Commission groups

Commission groups allow you to set different commissions for different users for the same campaign.

This way, you can reward your VIP affiliates, or simply add performance criteria to your program, for example have 20% commissions if affiliate delivers less than 5 sales, and 30% if he delivers 5 or more sales.

Activating the feature

This feature is available only in Professional edition. Users of Starter and Xpress editions can purchase it individually.

The feature has to be activated before it can be used. To activate it go to your merchant panel -> Configuration -> Features
There click on Activate button next to the Commission Groups feature. If you have Starter or Xpress edition, you have to buy it first.
After this, the feature is activated. Now you can specify new commission groups with different commission settings in your campaigns.

How it works

When you create a new campaign and specify its commissions, these commissions are used by default for all affiliates.

If you want some affiliates to receive higher commissions for the same campaign, you should create new commission group(s) within the campaign and specify different (higher or lower) commissions.
Only affiliates that you'll manually assign to this commission group will receive higher commissions, the rest of affiliates will receive default commissions.

You can create multiple commission groups for each campaign, each with its own set of commissions. Affiliate either belongs to one of these groups, or he is in the default group.

Creating a commission group

When the feature is activated, you can go to Campaign manager and open some campaign for editation. Go to the tab Commission groups. There you can see the list of all defined commission groups.

You can add new with the Add button.

In the first step you should define the group name. After clicking on Save the new commission group is saved. You can then click on Back to campaign link to return to the campaign editation.

Now we have created new commissin group called VIP affiliates, but it does not have any special commission settings, nor affiliates assigned.

As the next step we'll define higher commission settings for this group. Click on the Edit  button next to the commission group to edit the settings.

This will open editation of commission group. You can see that this group doesn't have any commissions defined yet. Now click on the Edit button in the per Sale commission type.

There you can specify per sale commissions for this group. Standard commissions in this campaign is 30%, so we'll set VIP affiliates commissions to 40%.
Click Save and Close to get back to the commission group screen.

Now the per sale commissions for VIP affiliates group is set to 40%. The last thing we need to do is to add some affiliates to this group.

Switch to Affiliates in group tab, and you'll see that there are no affiliates in this group yet.

You can add affiliates to this group by clicking on Add affiliate button, and finding an affiliate in the selection box.

This way you can add any number of affiliates. 

This is all that is necessary. Now all your affiliates assigned to the commission group will get commission amount specified in the group (40% in our example), while the rest of affiliates will get the default commissions (30% in our example).
