Sometimes you may want to import affiliates into Post Affiliate Pro, but for some reason, the import does not work. What should you do?
1) Ensure you have the correct file format
In the merchant panel, navigate to Tools > Import/Export > Export, check 'Affiliates', and click Export data.
Below the table listing the export options, you will find a link labeled Exported files that will redirect you to the exported files screen. There, you can click the D button next to the exported file.
After downloading the exported file, open it with a simple (non-rich) text editor, such as Notepad, PsPad, Gedit, Geany, etc. You will then see the essential format of the file.
In the exported file, replace the existing affiliate data with the affiliate data you wish to import and save the file.
Now, go to Tools > Import/Export > Import, choose the updated file, and click Import.
If you selected a different 'separator' during export, make sure to choose the same 'separator' during import.
2) Ensure all mandatory fields are filled
If any fields on the signup page are set as mandatory, they must be included (and filled in) in the file from which you are importing the affiliates.
How do you find out which fields are mandatory?
In the merchant panel, navigate to Configuration > Affiliate signup > Fields (tab) and check which fields are set to Mandatory. If you find any fields that you do not wish to be mandatory, set them to Optional or Hidden and click Save at the bottom of the page.
Do not forget to refresh the application using the CTRL+F5 key combination.
Even if you have only Username, First name, and Last name set as mandatory, you must also fill in the following fields:
- userid: Alphanumeric string with a length from 1 to 8
- referral id: Alphanumeric string with a length from 1 to 20
- date inserted: The correct format is "2012-12-24 00:00:01" (including quotation marks)
- date approved: The correct format is "2012-12-24 00:00:01" (including quotation marks)
- password: Alphanumeric string with a length from 1 to 20
date inserted and date approved can be the same date.
