This feature adds a Facebook share button to a list of banners and links in your affiliate panel so affiliates could easily share their affiliate links on Facebook. By default it is not possible to directly share the banner's image, but there is a workaround for PHP enabled websites.
You can activate this feature as any other from your merchant panel Configuration> Features where you click "Activate" next to the "Facebook connect" feature.
Once the feature is active you have three two options:
1. Without any other setup your affiliates will be able to share banner links only (no images)
2. With a special PHP script (needs some programming skills and PHP enabled website) your affiliates will be able to share full banner including its image
3. Facebook has removed this option - With a Facebook App (no programming skills needed) your affiliates will be able to share full banner including its image
NOTE: Impressions of banners shared on Facebook can not be tracked due to technical limitations.
1. No further setup
Without the use of Facebook app or a special PHP script the Facebook share button in affiliate banners will only share affiliate links without pushing through the banner image. This solution is for those merchants who do not need special image banners being shared. You can share link banner and links of image banners without any problem.
2. PHP Script to show shared banner image
If you have at least basic programming skills and you are able to add PHP code to your website then you can achieve sharing banners with their images with a custom PHP script. The idea is to trick Facebook when it's fetching images from your website to load the actual banner image. This approach is described in the second point of the Facebook Connect FAQ article.
3. Facebook App
This solution no longer works - Facebook has removed this option.
Using this solution you do not need any programming skills. All is handled by a Facebook app. The first step would be to create a new Facebook app at https://developers.facebook.com/ (you need to have a developer account). If you do not have a developer account you can log in using your regular Facebook credentials. Then click "Get Started" in the upper right corner and go through the verification process. Once verified you'll be able to name your first app and create it.
If you already have a developer account you can create a new app via upper right corner My Apps section and the Create New App button.
Once the app is created do not add any "Product" to it and instead navigate to Settings > Basic in the left side menu. Scroll down and click on Add Platform and select Website. Once added add your Post Affiliate Pro domain or the custom domain (if you've set one) as the "Site URL". You have to add the domain which your affiliates will use to log in to their affiliate panel. Afterwards, still in the Basic section scroll to the top and add your domain also to App Domains. Next, save the app and enable application for public using in App Review section.
After all is done, copy its ID from the top of the page. Now, navigate to your Post Affiliate Pro Features section and enter the ID in the Configuration section (button) of the Facebook Connect feature.
Once this is set up your affiliates can easily share image banners including the image of the banner.
