The commission structure is primarily defined in campaigns. Campaigns are mainly used to specify different types and levels of commissions, or per-product commissions. You can view & manage your campaigns in your merchant panel in Campaigns > Campaigns manager.
By default Post Affiliate Pro account already has one default campaign named “First campaign”, feel free to rename it. Clicking on the Edit (pencil icon) button opens the details of the campaign's configuration.
The structure of commissions is configured in the "Commission settings" tab in the campaign's details. You can set up the following commission types:
- per click - a flat commission, provided every time someone clicks an affiliate's link or banner. It can be attributed only for unique clicks, or also for repeated clicks made by the same visitor.
- per sale - most common commission type. This commission type rewards your affiliates for referring transactions/sales. The commission can be either a flat commission (e.g. $10) or a percentage commission (e.g. 5%) calculated from the value of the order.
- per action - a special commission type. It allows you to attribute a commission for any action that happens on your site - a special type of sale, registration, form submission, download of a file from your site, or visit of a specific page. It means that you can reward your affiliates whenever a visitor referred by them performs the chosen action.
To have the option to create action commissions, it is required to activate the "Action commissions" feature in Configuration > Features. - CPM (cost per mille) - a flat commission, given every time an affiliate gets 1000 impressions (views of promoted banners), or 1000 clicks.
To get the option to set up CPM commissions, you need to activate the "CPM commissions" or "CMP commissions per click" feature in Configuration > Features.
Different commission rates for a certain affiliate or a group of affiliates can be defined with the "Commission groups" feature. Once the feature is activated in Configuration > Features, each campaign's configuration details will have a tab called "Commission groups". This feature allows you to create multiple commission groups with different commission rates within a campaign, and assign affiliates to them. This way, the default per-sale commission rate in your campaign can be 20%, whereas a group of affiliates added e.g. into a VIP commission group can get 30% in the same campaign instead.
Assigning to commission groups can also be managed automatically based on various criteria using the Performance rewards feature.
